The vine

  • Plot /climat

Clos des Mouches (total surface area 25ha 18a).

  • History

In medieval French, « les mouches » meant bees. The south east facing slope takes a lot of sun that attract flowers and bees.

  • Soil

Clay and limestone, stony and well drained.

  • Our plot(s)

    58a35ca and 15a03ca planted in 1958, 1968 and 1986 at an altitude of 250/300m.

The wine

  • Description

100% Pinot Noir from handpicked grapes; raised in oak casks.

  • Taste

The grapes from the two different altitudes balance to give a round and elegant wine with an aroma of ripe red berries, full-bodied and velvety on the palate.

  • Serving temperature

15/16°C. It is recommended to decant recent vintages so as to enhance the aroma.

The vintage

  • After a very cold winter the vegetation growth started quickly as from end of march. The 28th-29th frost had luckily not too much effect on our vines. They started to bloom beginning of june. Alternating cool and very hot spells in july and august made it difficult to decide the right tile for harvest. Finally we started on the 4th of September. Little sortation was necessary because of the quality of the grapes. After fermentation, the wines had a deep shiny shade and very fine red fruit aromas slightly jammy. In mouth the wine is dense , rich and elegant.
